Ten years strong: the partnership behind Movember’s Merch
Some client relationships start with a brief and a quote. This one started with a phone call from an old friend.
Ten years ago, a personal connection to Movember New Zealand turned into a one-off order for branded merchandise. A decade on, it’s grown into one of our longest-running partnerships one that’s outlasted plenty of trends, and at least a few questionable moustache styles.
How it started
There was no pitch deck, no tender process. Just a conversation between two people who knew each other, and a willingness to help out a cause worth backing. That informal start is part of why the relationship has lasted it was built on trust first, and the commercial side grew naturally around it.
What we source and supply
Over ten years, the scope has expanded to cover almost everything Movember needs to put its brand into people’s hands. Notebooks, pens, socks, drink bottles, cricket uniforms, stickers, magnets, mailing bags if it carries a logo and needs to land somewhere, we’ve sourced it, branded it, and shipped it.
That range matters more than it might seem. A charity campaign like Movember runs across social media, events, fundraising teams, and corporate partners all at once, which means the merchandise mix is rarely simple. Having one supplier who can move from a stationery order to a full uniform run, without missing a beat, takes a lot of the operational load off their team.
Creative that fits the cause
Sourcing product is only half of it. We also work on the creative side, helping shape how the branding shows up across the range so it feels consistent with the campaign each year, whether that’s a fresh moustache motif on a drink bottle or uniform detailing for a fundraising event. Good merchandise for a cause like this needs to do two jobs at once: look right, and carry the message.
Warehousing and distribution, behind the scenes
We also store and distribute stock on Movember’s behalf. For an organisation running a high-tempo campaign across a single month each year, having product ready to move without needing to manage warehouse space themselves is a meaningful piece of the puzzle. It’s a part of the relationship that doesn’t get talked about much, but it’s one of the reasons the partnership has stuck.
Built to last
Ten years is a long time in any business relationship. It’s a reminder that the partnerships we value most aren’t always the biggest accounts they’re the ones built on trust, consistency, and showing up the same way, year after year. Movember is one of those, and we’re glad to still be part of it.
